One of the most important things you can do to Prepare for Traveling During the Pandemic and a the same time stay safe is :

  • Check government travel advice for the country you’re going to be visiting. Find out if there have been cases of coronavirus in the country you plan to visit, Research any  local public health measures, including the availability of health services and advice, and be aware of any travel restrictions or quarantine measures.
  • Take out travel insurance and make sure you’re covered for any pre-existing medical conditions check whether there’s a reciprocal healthcare agreement between your home country and the one you’re visiting
  • When traveling in groups, choose accommodation options that offer social distance, such as self-contained apartments or houses; and if you’re visiting a country affected by coronavirus, avoid public transport and crowded areas. Most importantly stay home if you’re feeling unwell, especially if you have a cough or a fever to avoid getting sick.

While traveling, staying healthy can be even more challenging these days . You are out of your normal environment, around different germs and bacteria, and these small changes in your body may lead to illness.

But don’t worry, staying healthy when you travel is easier than you may think. While traveling, it’s easy to pick up colds and viruses. Generally, your immune system is weaker when you are traveling.

When preparing to travel, consider other things you can do to reduce your risk of exposure to coronavirus and other infectious diseases:

  • Schedule a consultation prior to your trip

Make sure you are adequately protected If you are traveling internationally, it’s important to make sure you receive all the vaccinations you need to stay away from covid-19 and any other infection . Some countries require proof of certain vaccinations before you can legally enter the country.

If you are traveling to a country where yellow fever is present, you will need to be vaccinated. Yellow fever is a serious infection, and without vaccination, it’s fatal. Yellow fever is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito.

Staying healthy while traveling doesn’t mean staying away from all germs and bacteria. However, it does mean being aware of what to look out for and being proactive about protecting yourself against diseases.

  • Avoid contact

Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze, use tissues or cough into your elbow Use hand sanitizers or soap and water to keep your hands clean. Avoid close contact with people who are unwell, Don’t share towels or sheets, and avoid sharing personal items.

  • Wash your hands often

Good hand washing technique can protect you against a host of illnesses. If you are traveling to a country where there is a risk of illness, Wash your hands frequently, particularly before eating, and avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose and mouth.

  • Stay hydrated

The risk of illnesses increases when you are dehydrated. If you are traveling in warmer climates, you may not feel as thirsty as you should, but make sure you still drink lots of water. If you are traveling in colder climates, make sure you drink plenty of warm fluids.

  • Avoid to much alcohol

While alcohol may make you feel better, it also dehydrates you, and it lowers your defenses against bacteria and viruses.

  • Get enough sleep
